This still life began with simple objects—a silver bowl, a handful of limes, and a few fallen blossoms—but it quickly became a study in contrast. I was drawn to the way the glossy greens catch and bounce light, and how that cool clarity plays against the softer, fragile whites and pinks of the flowers. The silver bowl sits like a quiet anchor in the middle, holding the composition together while the petals and small scattered forms create a sense of immediacy, as if the arrangement has just been set down.
I painted the background in muted tones to let the color relationships do the talking: acid green against slate blue, warm tabletop light against cool shadows. Up close, the brushwork stays visible on purpose—I wanted you to feel the physicality of paint as much as the surfaces of fruit and silver.
