Ember Canopy

I wanted to capture the essence of the sun shining on autumn leaves. Dense autumn foliage  in a mosaic of ochre, crimson, and olive, parts to reveal the sun glowing low through the trees. Slender trunks in cool violet-grey anchor the composition, cutting vertically through the warm chaos of turning leaves and creating a sense of depth within the tangle.

Built with thick palette knife strokes, the painting immerses the viewer inside the woods rather than looking at them from a distance — every surface catching or blocking the light, so the whole canvas seems to flicker.
